The central theme of this profile of Gang Dong-won is a long central line and a tapered chin. We examine the visible contours and placement of the features in seven steps, starting with the overall face shape and ending with how its lines and surfaces fit together.
Step 1: Face Shape — The Outline of the Cheeks and Jaw
The vertically long face narrows towards the chin. A diagonal line is visible going down from the cheekbones to the lower jaw.
Even within the large oval frame, the width of the cheekbones and chin are not the same. If you follow the speed from the widest part of the face down to the tip of the chin, you can see changes in the outline that are not revealed by length alone.
Step 2: Forehead — Between the Hairline and Brows
The bangs cover most of the forehead. Only the part exposed through the hair can be seen.
The end line of the bangs creates a new border on the upper part of the face. By distinguishing between the exposed space above the eyebrows and the space covered by the hair, you can avoid confusing the size of the forehead itself with the blank space created by the hairstyle.
Step 3: Eyes — Eyelid Curves and Horizontal Length

The eyes are long horizontally and low vertically. When the gaze is turned to the side, the border of one eye becomes more prominent.
The shape of the eye can be better revealed by dividing it into the horizontal length and vertical opening. The curve of the upper eyelid, the lower border, and the area that tapers to the corner of the eye combine to form a single outline.
Step 4: Eyebrows — The Lines Above the Eyes
The eyebrows are dark and set low below the bangs. Some sections are obscured, making the outer shape less visible.
The visible eyebrow pieces were not drawn to form the full eyebrow shape. If you look at the direction of the confirmed line and the gap between the eyes, you can distinguish between the border of hair or props and the actual eyebrows.
Step 5: Nose — The Central Line and Depth
The bridge of the nose is long and the tip of the nose has a rounded surface. Create a thin and long center line of the face.
The long bridge of the nose creates a central line that extends from between the eyes to above the lips. Comparing the narrow width of the bridge of the nose and the rounded surface of the tip, the parts that appear as lines and the parts that appear as surfaces can be distinguished within the same nose.
Step 6: Mouth and Chin — Expression and the Lower Face
Lips and Mouth Corners
The moment you speak, your mouth is slightly open. The center of the upper lip and the curve of the lower lip are visible above the microphone.
Jawline and Chin
The lower face narrows and gathers at the tip of the small chin. The angle of the lower jaw is more exposed on one side depending on the direction of the head.
The mouth in this scene is influenced by both vocalization and props. Only by examining the visible line of the lips and the outline of the chin can you distinguish the shape at the moment of mouth movement from the usual stationary shape.
Step 7: Overall Balance — A Long Central Line and a Tapered Chin
Gang Dong-won's long nose and narrow lower jaw continue the vertical flow of the face. The long eyes under the bangs divide the flow horizontally, and the gaze to the side and the direction of the head make one side of the outline clearer.
Gang Dong-won's Facial Features at a Glance
- Face shape: Vertically long face narrows towards the chin.
- Eyes: The eyes are long horizontally and low vertically.
- Chin: The lower face narrows and converges into a small chin tip.
Together, these features show how the face's outer contour relates to the eyes and lower face. Looking at the connections between lines and surfaces helps explain the overall balance visible in this photograph.
