The central theme of this profile of Kim Hee-ae is gentle contours and low brows. We examine the visible contours and placement of the features in seven steps, starting with the overall face shape and ending with how its lines and surfaces fit together.

Step 1: Face Shape — The Outline of the Cheeks and Jaw

The cheeks are wider than the chin and come together gently as they go downward. The exposed face shows round faces and a thin jawline.

When looking at horizontal width, you can divide it into the width of the cheekbone height and the width of the lower jaw height. Whether the wide side of the cheek extends to the lower face or suddenly decreases at the chin is a criterion for distinguishing the shape of the outline.

Step 2: Forehead — Between the Hairline and Brows

The shape of the forehead is revealed with the hair pulled back. A gentle hairline extends from the center to both sides.

You should look at the shape of the exposed part of the forehead and the hair on both sides. Since the parting and bangs are the lines that divide the upper margin, there is no need to immediately interpret the asymmetry seen in the photo as asymmetry of the forehead itself.

Step 3: Eyes — Eyelid Curves and Horizontal Length

The eyes are long horizontally and narrow vertically when smiling. Expression-shaped lines are visible around the corners of the eyes.

In photos with facial expressions, the vertical width of the eyes and the height of the cheeks below the eyes change. If you look at the curve of the lower eyelid rather than just looking at one point at the corner of the eye, you can read the movement of the center of the face more specifically.

Step 4: Eyebrows — The Lines Above the Eyes

The eyebrows are long and have low arches. The light on one side is strong, so the light and dark on both sides appear different.

The low eyebrows can be compared side by side with the horizontal line of the eyes. Looking at where the eyebrows start and end and how thin they become at the ends reveals the relationship between the two overlapping lines at the top.

Step 5: Nose — The Central Line and Depth

The bridge of the nose is relatively straight and the tip is round. Side lighting emphasizes the border of one side of the nose.

From this angle, both the length of the bridge of the nose and the degree to which the tip of the nose is brought forward are visible. The line where the bright side meets the shadow is also affected by lighting, so you can see the boundary between light and dark and the actual outer outline.

Step 6: Mouth and Chin — Expression and the Lower Face

Lips and Mouth Corners

The corners of the closed mouth rise to form a small smile. The center of the lips and the curve of the cheeks are connected.

Jawline and Chin

The tip of the chin is small and round, and the jaw lines on both sides are smooth. The surface under the cheek slowly narrows into the inferior canal.

When the mouth opens or the corners of the mouth rise, the width of the mouth and the space left up to the chin also change. If you look at the raised position of the cheeks and the tip of the chin together rather than just the lips, you can see the process by which a smile changes the ratio of the lower jaw.

Step 7: Overall Balance — Gentle Contours and Low Brows

Kim Hee-ae's face shows the long lines of her eyebrows and the smooth curve that goes from her cheeks to her chin. By comparing the corners of the mouth that change into a small smile with the outline, you can distinguish between the larger frame of the face and the momentary expression.

Kim Hee-ae's Facial Features at a Glance

  • Face shape: The cheeks are wider than the chin and gather gently toward the bottom.
  • Eyes: The eyes are long horizontally and narrow vertically when smiling.
  • Chin: The tip of the chin is small and round, and the jaw lines on both sides are smooth.

Together, these features show how the face's outer contour relates to the eyes and lower face. Looking at the connections between lines and surfaces helps explain the overall balance visible in this photograph.
