The central theme of this profile of Kim Ok-vin is an open forehead and defined eyes. We examine the visible contours and placement of the features in seven steps, starting with the overall face shape and ending with how its lines and surfaces fit together.

Step 1: Face Shape — The Outline of the Cheeks and Jaw

It has an oval shape that gradually narrows from the cheekbones to the chin. A small angle remains on the side of the face.

The angled part does not mean that the entire face is square, but it means that the section where the direction of the curve changes is visible. If you follow the line that goes down from the side of the cheekbones to the lower jaw, the difference between the straight section and the round section is revealed.

Step 2: Forehead — Between the Hairline and Brows

Pull your hair back to reveal your forehead and round hairline.

In compositions where the forehead is exposed, you can see a wide area extending from the hairline to the eyebrows. Comparing the direction of the upper curve and the lower eyebrows makes it clear what lines surround the upper part of the face.

Step 3: Eyes — Eyelid Curves and Horizontal Length

The eyes are horizontally long and the curve of the upper eyelid is clear. The outer border of the eye is clear.

The shape of the eye can be better revealed by dividing it into the horizontal length and vertical opening. The curve of the upper eyelid, the lower border, and the area that tapers to the corner of the eye combine to form a single outline.

Step 4: Eyebrows — The Lines Above the Eyes

The eyebrows are dark and long, forming a low arch at the end.

The low eyebrows can be compared side by side with the horizontal line of the eyes. Looking at where the eyebrows start and end and how thin they become at the ends reveals the relationship between the two overlapping lines at the top.

Step 5: Nose — The Central Line and Depth

The bridge of the nose is relatively straight, and the tip of the nose has a round volume.

The tip of the nose and both nostrils are areas where small curved surfaces are gathered. If you look at the widening border on both sides instead of just looking at the bright side in the center, you can see the width that changes from the bridge of the nose to the bottom of the nose.

Step 6: Mouth and Chin — Expression and the Lower Face

Lips and Mouth Corners

The center of the closed mouth is thick and the ends are slightly raised.

Jawline and Chin

The jawline gathers thinly, leaving a rounded shape at the tip of the small chin.

In a closed mouth, the curve in the center of the upper lip and the curved surface of the lower lip can be examined separately. Comparing the horizontal width of the lips to the width of the tip of the chin reveals how small lines and large outlines are placed within the lower face.

Step 7: Overall Balance — An Open Forehead and Defined Eyes

Kim Ok-vin's open forehead allows the outline of her eyebrows and eyes to be seen at a glance. By connecting the small angles on the sides of the face and the narrow jawline, a clear upper part and a softly gathered lower part appear together.

Kim Ok-vin's Facial Features at a Glance

  • Face shape: Oval with a gentle narrowing from the cheekbones to the chin.
  • Eyes: The eyes are horizontally long and the curve of the upper eyelid is clear.
  • Chin: The jawline is narrow and a rounded shape remains at the tip of the small chin.

Together, these features show how the face's outer contour relates to the eyes and lower face. Looking at the connections between lines and surfaces helps explain the overall balance visible in this photograph.
