The central theme of this profile of Lim Young-woong is a tapered lower face and an open mouth. We examine the visible contours and placement of the features in seven steps, starting with the overall face shape and ending with how its lines and surfaces fit together.
Step 1: Face Shape — The Outline of the Cheeks and Jaw
It is a long oval shape that becomes narrower from the cheek to the chin. A rounded surface remains at the tip of the chin, continuing the outline.
Even within the large oval frame, the width of the cheekbones and chin are not the same. If you follow the speed from the widest part of the face down to the tip of the chin, you can see changes in the outline that are not revealed by length alone.
Step 2: Forehead — Between the Hairline and Brows
Curly bangs cover the forehead and part of the eyebrows. The full height of the forehead is not revealed in the photo.
You should look at the shape of the exposed part of the forehead and the hair on both sides. Since the parting and bangs are the lines that divide the upper margin, there is no need to immediately interpret the asymmetry seen in the photo as asymmetry of the forehead itself.
Step 3: Eyes — Eyelid Curves and Horizontal Length

When smiling, the eyes narrow and the curves under the eyes rise. The outer part of the eye gently narrows.
In photos with facial expressions, the vertical width of the eyes and the height of the cheeks below the eyes change. If you look at the curve of the lower eyelid rather than just looking at one point at the corner of the eye, you can read the movement of the center of the face more specifically.
Step 4: Eyebrows — The Lines Above the Eyes
Only part of the eyebrows are visible beneath the hair. The exposed section is relatively straight and dark.
The visible eyebrow pieces were not drawn to form the full eyebrow shape. If you look at the direction of the confirmed line and the gap between the eyes, you can distinguish between the border of hair or props and the actual eyebrows.
Step 5: Nose — The Central Line and Depth
The bridge of the nose runs long along the center of the face. The tip of the nose is finished in a small round shape.
The long bridge of the nose creates a central line that extends from between the eyes to above the lips. Comparing the narrow width of the bridge of the nose and the rounded surface of the tip, the parts that appear as lines and the parts that appear as surfaces can be distinguished within the same nose.
Step 6: Mouth and Chin — Expression and the Lower Face
Lips and Mouth Corners
With a smile, the mouth widens horizontally and the upper teeth are visible. Both corners of the mouth are connected to the movement of the cheek.
Jawline and Chin
The lower jaw is narrow and the tip of the chin is round. The border under the chin contrasts with the dark clothing.
When the mouth opens or the corners of the mouth rise, the width of the mouth and the space left up to the chin also change. If you look at the raised position of the cheeks and the tip of the chin together rather than just the lips, you can see the process by which a smile changes the ratio of the lower jaw.
Step 7: Overall Balance — A Tapered Lower Face and an Open Mouth
In Lim Young-woong's photo, horizontal lines around the eyes and vertical lines in the center of the face are distinguishable. Because the facial expression and shooting distance change the details, you can focus on the large arrangement between the cheeks, nose, and chin rather than small wrinkles.
