The central theme of this profile of Ock Joo-hyun is a long nose bridge and a slender profile. We examine the visible contours and placement of the features in seven steps, starting with the overall face shape and ending with how its lines and surfaces fit together.

Step 1: Face Shape — The Outline of the Cheeks and Jaw

It is a long oval shape with width remaining in the cheeks and cheekbones and narrowing in the lower face.

Even within the large oval frame, the width of the cheekbones and chin are not the same. If you follow the speed from the widest part of the face down to the tip of the chin, you can see changes in the outline that are not revealed by length alone.

Step 2: Forehead — Between the Hairline and Brows

The hair is parted on either side of the center part, exposing the forehead.

You should look at the shape of the exposed part of the forehead and the hair on both sides. Since the parting and bangs are the lines that divide the upper margin, there is no need to immediately interpret the asymmetry seen in the photo as asymmetry of the forehead itself.

Step 3: Eyes — Eyelid Curves and Horizontal Length

The eyes are horizontally long and the curve of the upper eyelid is clear.

The shape of the eye can be better revealed by dividing it into the horizontal length and vertical opening. The curve of the upper eyelid, the lower border, and the area that tapers to the corner of the eye combine to form a single outline.

Step 4: Eyebrows — The Lines Above the Eyes

The eyebrows are long, low arched, and have thin ends.

The low eyebrows can be compared side by side with the horizontal line of the eyes. Looking at where the eyebrows start and end and how thin they become at the ends reveals the relationship between the two overlapping lines at the top.

Step 5: Nose — The Central Line and Depth

The bridge of the nose is long and straight, emphasizing the vertical center of the face.

The long bridge of the nose creates a central line that extends from between the eyes to above the lips. Comparing the narrow width of the bridge of the nose and the rounded surface of the tip, the parts that appear as lines and the parts that appear as surfaces can be distinguished within the same nose.

Step 6: Mouth and Chin — Expression and the Lower Face

Lips and Mouth Corners

The center of the closed lips is thick and the curve of the upper lip is visible.

Jawline and Chin

The lower jaw comes together diagonally, but the width and roundness remain at the tip of the chin.

In a closed mouth, the curve in the center of the upper lip and the curved surface of the lower lip can be examined separately. Comparing the horizontal width of the lips to the width of the tip of the chin reveals how small lines and large outlines are placed within the lower face.

Step 7: Overall Balance — A Long Nose Bridge and a Slender Profile

In Ock Joo-hyun's photo, you can see the long center line and the outer edges converging towards the chin. When comparing the horizontal direction of the eyes and mouth, the vertical ratio of the face and the width of the facial features are revealed as different layers.

Ock Joo-hyun's Facial Features at a Glance

  • Face shape: Long oval with width left in the cheeks and cheekbones and a narrow lower face.
  • Eyes: The eyes are horizontally long and the curve of the upper eyelid is clear.
  • Chin: The lower jaw gathers diagonally, but the width and roundness remain at the tip of the chin.

Together, these features show how the face's outer contour relates to the eyes and lower face. Looking at the connections between lines and surfaces helps explain the overall balance visible in this photograph.
