The central theme of this profile of Psy is wide cheeks and narrowing smiling eyes. We examine the visible contours and placement of the features in seven steps, starting with the overall face shape and ending with how its lines and surfaces fit together.
Step 1: Face Shape — The Outline of the Cheeks and Jaw
The cheeks and lower jaw are wide and round, and the horizontal width of the face is prominent.
When looking at horizontal width, you can divide it into the width of the cheekbone height and the width of the lower jaw height. Whether the wide side of the cheek extends to the lower face or suddenly decreases at the chin is a criterion for distinguishing the shape of the outline.
Step 2: Forehead — Between the Hairline and Brows
Flip your hair up to reveal your forehead and hairline.
In compositions where the forehead is exposed, you can see a wide area extending from the hairline to the eyebrows. Comparing the direction of the upper curve and the lower eyebrows makes it clear what lines surround the upper part of the face.
Step 3: Eyes — Eyelid Curves and Horizontal Length

When smiling, the eyes narrow and the corners of the eyes fold.
In photos with facial expressions, the vertical width of the eyes and the height of the cheeks below the eyes change. If you look at the curve of the lower eyelid rather than just looking at one point at the corner of the eye, you can read the movement of the center of the face more specifically.
Step 4: Eyebrows — The Lines Above the Eyes
The eyebrows are dark and relatively straight, with the tips slightly raised.
The low eyebrows can be compared side by side with the horizontal line of the eyes. Looking at where the eyebrows start and end and how thin they become at the ends reveals the relationship between the two overlapping lines at the top.
Step 5: Nose — The Central Line and Depth
The tip of the nose and the nostrils are round, creating a wide area in the center of the face.
The tip of the nose and both nostrils are areas where small curved surfaces are gathered. If you look at the widening border on both sides instead of just looking at the bright side in the center, you can see the width that changes from the bridge of the nose to the bottom of the nose.
Step 6: Mouth and Chin — Expression and the Lower Face
Lips and Mouth Corners
A wide smile that exposes the upper teeth widens the width of the mouth.
Jawline and Chin
The tip of the chin is wide and round, and the sides of the lower jaw also maintain width.
When the mouth opens or the corners of the mouth rise, the width of the mouth and the space left up to the chin also change. If you look at the raised position of the cheeks and the tip of the chin together rather than just the lips, you can see the process by which a smile changes the ratio of the lower jaw.
Step 7: Overall Balance — Wide Cheeks and Narrowing Smiling Eyes
Psy's big smile emphasizes the horizontal orientation of his face along with his wide cheeks. If you look at the narrowing of the eyes and the wide tip of the chin side by side, a composition that shows moving facial expression lines and a rounded outline at the same time is revealed.
