The central theme of this profile of Sung Si-kyung is a rounded face and horizontal glasses frames. We examine the visible contours and placement of the features in seven steps, starting with the overall face shape and ending with how its lines and surfaces fit together.
Step 1: Face Shape — The Outline of the Cheeks and Jaw
The cheeks and lower jaw are rounded, revealing the horizontal width of the face.
When looking at horizontal width, you can divide it into the width of the cheekbone height and the width of the lower jaw height. Whether the wide side of the cheek extends to the lower face or suddenly decreases at the chin is a criterion for distinguishing the shape of the outline.
Step 2: Forehead — Between the Hairline and Brows
The abundant bangs cover most of the forehead, hiding the entire shape of the forehead.
The end line of the bangs creates a new border on the upper part of the face. By distinguishing between the exposed space above the eyebrows and the space covered by the hair, you can avoid confusing the size of the forehead itself with the blank space created by the hairstyle.
Step 3: Eyes — Eyelid Curves and Horizontal Length

The eyes look narrow inside the round glasses. The frames of the glasses overlap the contours around the eyes.
The circles or straight lines on the glasses frame overlap the actual outline of the eyes. You can examine the horizontal direction of the eye by following only the exposed eyelids and outer corners of the eyes, excluding the frames, but it is difficult to measure the size beyond the lens in precise proportions.
Step 4: Eyebrows — The Lines Above the Eyes
Some of the eyebrows are obscured by bangs and glasses frames, so the overall shape is not clear.
The visible eyebrow pieces were not drawn to form the full eyebrow shape. If you look at the direction of the confirmed line and the gap between the eyes, you can distinguish between the border of hair or props and the actual eyebrows.
Step 5: Nose — The Central Line and Depth
The bridge of the nose extends below the glasses, and the tip and nostrils are round.
The shape of the center is revealed only when the line of the prop overlapped on the nose is differentiated from the actual bridge of the nose. In this composition, the part where the uncovered tip of the nose connects to the nasal tip shows the width of the lower part of the nose.
Step 6: Mouth and Chin — Expression and the Lower Face
Lips and Mouth Corners
The closed mouth is horizontally long, revealing the curved surface of the lower lip. The microphone is close to one side of the mouth.
Jawline and Chin
The tip of the chin and the jaw lines on both sides are round and relatively wide.
The mouth in this scene is influenced by both vocalization and props. Only by examining the visible line of the lips and the outline of the chin can you distinguish the shape at the moment of mouth movement from the usual stationary shape.
Step 7: Overall Balance — A Rounded Face and Horizontal Glasses Frames
Sung Si-kyung's round glasses create separate frames around the eyes. If we first look at the wide curves of the cheeks and lower jaw and then distinguish the glasses lines, a composition in which the circle of the prop and the curve around the outline of the face are repeated in different sizes is revealed.
Sung Si-kyung's Facial Features at a Glance
- Face shape: The cheeks and lower jaw are rounded, revealing the horizontal width of the face.
- Eyes: Eyes appear narrow inside round glasses.
- Chin: The tip of the chin and the jaw lines on both sides are round and relatively wide.
Together, these features show how the face's outer contour relates to the eyes and lower face. Looking at the connections between lines and surfaces helps explain the overall balance visible in this photograph.
