The central theme of this profile of Yang Hyun-suk is a rounded lower face beneath a hat. We examine the visible contours and placement of the features in seven steps, starting with the overall face shape and ending with how its lines and surfaces fit together.
Step 1: Face Shape — The Outline of the Cheeks and Jaw
The outline gradually narrows from the cheek to the chin. The bottom of the face is mainly visible under the hat.
Even within the large oval frame, the width of the cheekbones and chin are not the same. If you follow the speed from the widest part of the face down to the tip of the chin, you can see changes in the outline that are not revealed by length alone.
Step 2: Forehead — Between the Hairline and Brows
The hat and bangs cover the forehead and hairline.
In this composition, the border of the upper face is not the hairline, but the edge of the hat. Therefore, the height or width of the entire forehead cannot be determined just by looking at the space above the eyebrows, and can be examined by focusing on the area exposed under the hat.
Step 3: Eyes — Eyelid Curves and Horizontal Length

The horizontal lines of the eyes are visible beneath the shadow of the hat. The corners of the eyes fold slightly in accordance with the smile.
In photos with facial expressions, the vertical width of the eyes and the height of the cheeks below the eyes change. If you look at the curve of the lower eyelid rather than just looking at one point at the corner of the eye, you can read the movement of the center of the face more specifically.
Step 4: Eyebrows — The Lines Above the Eyes
The hat falls close to the eyebrows, hiding the entire length and curves.
The visible eyebrow pieces were not drawn to form the full eyebrow shape. If you look at the direction of the confirmed line and the gap between the eyes, you can distinguish between the border of hair or props and the actual eyebrows.
Step 5: Nose — The Central Line and Depth
The lower part of the bridge of the nose and the round tip of the nose are exposed under the hat.
The tip of the nose and both nostrils are areas where small curved surfaces are gathered. If you look at the widening border on both sides instead of just looking at the bright side in the center, you can see the width that changes from the bridge of the nose to the bottom of the nose.
Step 6: Mouth and Chin — Expression and the Lower Face
Lips and Mouth Corners
The ends of the closed mouth are slightly raised, and volume is visible in the center of the lower lip.
Jawline and Chin
The lower jaw becomes round and narrow, leaving a small width at the tip of the chin.
In a closed mouth, the curve in the center of the upper lip and the curved surface of the lower lip can be examined separately. Comparing the horizontal width of the lips to the width of the tip of the chin reveals how small lines and large outlines are placed within the lower face.
Step 7: Overall Balance — A Rounded Lower Face Beneath a Hat
In Yang Hyun-suk's photo, the border between the hat and the face divides the upper form. By connecting the exposed cheeks, mouth, and lower jaw, you can look at the width and curve of the lower part without assuming the hidden forehead.
